Realtors - Don't Get Emotional When Dealing With Buyers Or Sellers

Steve Browne is a new agent who works with us. Steve is learning all about what it takes to be a Realtor and he`s doing a wonderful job.

Steve has learned alot working with our company and we`re on the telephone coaching him everyday!

Steve is in the midst of a difficult transaction. The buyer needs an additional two weeks to close Needless to say,it`s hard on the seller and buyer. It`s not anyone`s fault,in today`s market obtaining a loan isn`t as easy as it once was, conditions, appraisals do take time.

Steve and I spoke about having our seller sign off to an addendum, we knew by speaking to the lender that we had to get an extension.

Last night Steve called me in a panic! The Seller refused to sign the addendum, he doesn`t understand why he should allow the buyer the extra time to close and he doesn`t want to continue! The sellers belief is that the Buyer is to blame,he doesn`t understand that the lender needs to more time!

Naturally, emotions are flying high! At this point I explain to Steve how he must conduct himself as a Professional!

I expressed to Steve that "Taking Control" of the situation is what distinguishes us as Realtor`s. Many Realtors will agree, that our job is to show our clients "Why They Hired Us" and demonstrate by reassuring them we`re going to make sure that we close!

I had Steve call the seller and explain to him that he was in fact hired to deal with situations that arise in a transaction. After speaking to the seller, Steve finally "Took Control" of the situation. The seller understands what we`re doing to make sure this closes and will sign the extension.

Real Estate is all about Selling as any good Pro will tell you! Our business demands that we as Professionals learn to "Take Control" of any situation that arises, in this business, knowing what you`re doing is crucial for you and you`re clients!

Steve called me two hours later "Thanking Me" for helping him through this ordeal. Before we hung up I told Steve "This won`t be the last time" this happens, but i`m sure as heck am glad that Steve`s confidence will help him prepare for the next transaction!
